What is a Galactagogue?

A galactagogue is an herbal supplement, pharmaceutical drug, or food used to increase a mother’s breast milk supply. If you’re worried about a dip in your breast milk supply, eating more lactogenic foods or using herbal supplements can help to naturally stimulate breast milk production and get your supply back up to where you’d like it to be.

Although, there hasn’t been a lot of clinical research into how they work (1, 2), doctors, lactation pros, and everyday moms have been sharing their favorite galactagogues with other mamas for centuries. Mama Love Protein contains 4 well-documented galactagogues: Peas, Oats, Brewer’s Yeast, and Flaxseeds.
